Having a person visit your website via search or by clicking one of your social media links is a great opportunity to begin creating a relationship.  The way to do this on your nonprofit website is through creating compelling content, and making it easy for the user to go deeper within your sites content repository.

Most nonprofits have online marketing plans that are focused on three areas: Increasing awareness of their cause. Raising online donations. Increasing engagement. I was reading yesterday about "calls to action"...those actions you want your website visitor to take when they are on your website...and I came across an interesting point.  The article I read was coming at things from a commercial business perspective, in that it spoke of a sales funnel, but I think it holds true for the nonprofit sector as well. Here's the interesting bit:  You should have at least three calls to action on your home page, one to represent each "persona" that comes to your website.

This is going to be a simple post...and I'm going to jump right in to 5 things to check on your nonprofit website home page.  As you are going through the list, if you find you are missing a couple of these items, do yourself a favour and immediately plan the "first step" to addressing this in a calendar.  The best way to right what is wrong is to start immediately. 1.  The donation button is in a prominent location, is highly visible, and has effective text.
